Hey there, I'm Dave and I've always had an eye for the photographic. Though growing up in the 80's, the only photography experience to be had was with those old box cameras that you buy in pharmacies that click and wind and have no depth of field.
In 2014, I bought and ipod 6 and started practicing photography until I could afford an iphone. As the saying goes - the best camera to have is the one you have with you. We carry our phones everywhere, so I would shoot anything and everything that caught my eye. Not only was I taking pictures but I was learning how to edit as well, finally being able to make the photo the way I saw it should be. That's the best part of shooting with a phone; not simply capturing an image but making it look the way you want. Once it's done, you can instantly share it with your friends or family.

FAQS
I became serious about photography once it went digital. Back in 2015, ipod in hand, I took my first "wall worthy" image. It was pretty, but once I added a pink hue to the yellow clouds, I thought "Now THIS is a beautiful picture. I want to print this out and decorate my wall. You know, there must be other people who would also want it to decorate their home with this image. So, I can do it! I can be a photographer!"
In 2017, I received my first camera as a gift: The Sony a6000. I've been a Sony shooter ever since.
As a Montreal photographer, I have a passion for natural light, unique, urban locations and helping people feel beautiful.
I specialize as a Portrait photographer, landscape photographer as well as a street photographer. But I'm happy shooting just about anything from cars to flowers to quiet spaces.

Q. Do you have a studio space?
A. I do not. I prefer the look of outdoor light and unique locations. However, if you want to shoot in a studio space, I can rent one.
Q. You book for an hour at a time, can I book for half an hour?
A. Sure! Half the time, half the price.
Q. I want to take pics inside my house or apartment, is that ok?
A. We can shoot wherever you like but keep in mind, photography is about LIGHT. If your apartment is relatively dark, I have lights if we need them. The more light, the better.
Q. How do I get my photos? And can I keep them?
A. I upload all your pictures to a Google Drive folder. I will invite you through email to the folder where you can view all of them. Depending on how long we shoot, I will happily edit a certain amount of them (1 hour is 10, 2 hours is 20). You are free to download, upload, delete, whatever you like, they're yours. If I feel that they are something that would help this website, I reserve the right to use them for my own marketing unless you vehemently disagree.
Q. Can I enlarge the pictures you send me?
A. The format I save your pictures in is JPEG. The quality is high enough for you to print a 40x60 sized print. If, for some reason, the resolution is not to your liking, I will edit the RAW file, which is uncompressed and able to be sized up to a literal billboard.
Q. Do you take pictures of pets?
A. Yes, I take pictures of ANYTHING.
Q. How do I pay you?
A. If you're paying cash, you can pay me on the day of our shoot. If you're paying by e-transfer, I require half payment to book your shoot. Once the shoot is complete, I require the second half payment to send your pics and edits.
Q. Why should I choose you?
A. Aside from my beautiful portfolio, you can read my reviews.
Q. Why Hand of Fate?
A. My Name is Dave Handelman. Whenever I sign up for social media, I type "Dave Hand". When I signed up for Instagram, however, I thought I would do something different and typed my name as "dhand_0_fate", like "The hand of fate". I liked the way it sounded.
